What is a celebrant anyway?
In short, a celebrant is whatever you want them to be!
Celebrants exist to help celebrate or commemorate all rites of passage with those wanting a more bespoke, inclusive and personalised ceremony. While celebrants aren’t able to do any of the legal bits (yet!), we can still help to bring people together to mark special occasions and, most importantly, make memories.
As a celebrant, I am not bound by traditional practices, but with creative freedom over your day, we can work together to incorporate any family traditions, cultural elements and symbolic moments which feel important to you.
Who is Amy?
As you might have guessed from this website, I tend to err on the side of maximalist… But that doesn’t mean your ceremony has to involve leopard print and wordplay. What it does mean is that I don’t do things by halves, and this goes for planning special things for special occasions.
I’m here as a celebrant to design and facilitate, with you and for you, to get the most out of your ceremony. Essentially, think of me as a chameleon, here to blend in and adapt to create the day you envisage (I’ll even make sure my outfits are on theme!).
While you don’t need any kind of certification to offer celebrant services, I am a soon-to-be qualified Civil Celebrant via Regent Academy. And, while you also don’t hold legal wedding ceremonies as a celebrant, I am about to start working as a Sessional Registrar at the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. I’m also a self-certified people person, keen playlist curator and generous giver of compliments.
I have worked in programme and project management, and have a background in public speaking- in classrooms, in lecture theatres and in actual theatres. But, ultimately, my favourite thing to do is bring people together to hear, capture, share and create memories.
If you’re after a celebrant with a penchant for storytelling and who leaves no sentimental stone unturned, give me a shout via the form below and I’ll see what we can rustle up together!
